Autumn
September - October

Just like spring in the Arctics, the Autumn is as short-lived. Autumn might last two days or sometimes for two full months. Expect mountains in full explosion of colour, amber evenings where the sunset lasts for hours. Even the Northern light will make its return in September when the sun starts to set.
Some might say this is the richest of the seasons. Short but incredibly sweet! If you are a photographer then expect to see light that you have never seen before. Long, warm shadows everywhere and landscapes that look like a professionally lit movie set.

Red currants from our garden, Blueberries in early September, Cranberries, Rosehip, Mushrooms, Juniper and of course the hunting season is here.

Moose, White tailed Eagles, Stoat, Hares, Reindeer, Minks.

If you are from Europe then I would probably pack to what I would wear on a normal “winters day”. Just good layers, but nothing too extreme. September can still be fairly good temperatures around 18 degrees, but then the snow starts dusting the mountain tops in October and you can feel the arrival of winter is near.
Good waterproof shoes/boots, wool layers and windproof/rainproof jacket will get you a long way. Do pack a t-shirt and thin thermals too just in case.
